Construction Delivery Manager
Base Location - 4 positions, 1 for each region
Salary: SS09 £58,630 – £68,098 (based on experience and authorisations) + car/cash allowance + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

We’re looking for 4 Construction Delivery Managers to lead the delivery of overhead line plant replacement and automation programmes across regional areas within the SEPD patch. You’ll oversee multiple construction teams, ensuring safe, high-quality, and efficient delivery of projects from LV to 33kV.
This role involves managing safety, productivity, and monthly forecasting to meet annual volume and financial targets. You’ll support the L3 Construction Manager in driving performance, ensuring compliance with safety systems, and delivering asset health, maintenance, and investment programmes valued at £40–100m over the ED2 period.
You’ll lead an integrated team, foster a high-performance culture, and ensure strong customer focus, commercial control, and collaboration across delivery mechanisms. Strong leadership, clear communication, and a safety-first mindset are essential.
You will:
Safety Leadership & Culture: Champion a strong safety-first culture by ensuring all staff and contractors are trained, authorised, and supervised, driving continuous improvement in SHE performance and regulatory compliance.
Project & Portfolio Management: Lead end-to-end delivery of system asset projects across all voltages, ensuring timely execution, commercial viability, and alignment with strategic KPIs and RIIO ED2 obligations.
Team Leadership & Development: Manage, coach, and empower operational teams and contractors to deliver high performance, ensuring compliance, training, and development within a positive and productive work environment.
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure high-quality customer interactions, alignment with project goals, and visibility of project progress for senior leadership.
Operational & Emergency Readiness: Oversee resource planning, storm and emergency response preparedness, standby duties, and ensure timely and effective restoration of supplies during incidents or severe weather events.
You have:
Extensive Experience in Utility Construction Delivery
Proven track record in managing overhead line plant replacement, automation programmes, and multi-voltage (LV to 33kV) distribution projects within a regulated utility environment.
Great Leadership and Team Management Skills
Experience leading operational and technical teams, driving productivity and safety, developing talent, and embedding a high-performing culture through coaching and performance management.
Comprehensive SHE and Regulatory Compliance Knowledge
In-depth understanding of SHE standards, SSEN Safety Management Systems, and governance frameworks such as DGIF, along with the ability to instil a safety-first mindset across teams.
Commercial and Financial Acumen
Demonstrated ability to assess project value and risk, manage budgets, and deliver cost-effective outcomes in alignment with RIIO ED2 and wider regulatory requirements.
Project Portfolio and Stakeholder Management Expertise
Skilled in planning, executing, and closing complex construction projects while engaging stakeholders (internal and external) and ensuring delivery readiness, customer focus, and continuous improvement.
