Salary: £55,200 - £83,000 + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role
We are looking for a Connections Policy Senior Manager to manage teams of analysts and engineers to deliver successful outcomes and to support the connections business deliver net zero while keeping costs low for our customers today and tomorrow. In this position, you'll provide policy advice and analysis and develop the policy strategy for the connections business that meet regulatory and statutory requirements. You will also lead a team of Quality and Training experts to ensure accurate and compliant completion of Connections quotations for customers.
This is a key role in the connections business where you will lead, build, and maintain effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. You will provide support on policy related issues to the wider connections business including senior management, the connections design and delivery teams and the account management team. You will help to influence and shape connections policy with regular communication and engagement with other network operators, BEIS and Ofgem. You will represent SSEN at industry groups including ENA working groups. You will work closely with the Connections team to implement policy changes.
You will
- Provide policy advice: Providing expert guidance and advice on key policy issues affecting the business, including those raised internally and externally.
- Develop and influence policy: Developing SSEN Distribution's position to connections policy areas, undertaking analysis (qualitative and quantitative) to support our position and communicating that position at industry working groups.
- Implement policy change: Leading projects to implement connections policy changes, ranging from minor improvement changes to significant industry level policy changes.
- Be responsible for Regulatory submissions: Ensuring that connections related annual regulatory submissions are prepared, reviewed, signed off and submitted in the required timescales.
- Maintain Policies and Procedures: Ensuring that the policies and procedures that the connections team work to remain accurate and compliant with all relevant obligations.
You have
- A proven understanding of the rules, regulations and obligations relating to electricity connections and ability to recognise and identify regulatory and policy related risks.
- The ability to lead and manage discrete projects, across multi-disciplinary teams, to successful outcomes, displaying good judgement and decision-making skills.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, able to outline complex issues in a straightforward and succinct way and experience working for third parties such as regulatory bodies.
- Experience working at pace to deadlines and able to prioritise time based on a strategic assessment of business risks and opportunities.
- Line management experience, developing and inspiring a team.
