Base Location: Great Island, Co. Wexford
Salary: €54,000 - €90,000 (including local allowance) + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The Role
SSE Thermal are recruiting an Outage Manager to oversee the planning and execution of both scheduled and unscheduled outages at our Great Island facility. This critical role involves coordinating site and contractor resources to ensure that outages are delivered safely, efficiently, and within budget. Reporting to the Project Team Leader, you will be instrumental in maintaining operational integrity and supporting the long-term performance of the station.
You Will
- Develop comprehensive outage plans, ensuring all required operational and maintenance activities are fully integrated.
- Oversee safety and compliance, coordinating all Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) documentation in line with current legislation.
- Ensure technical and operational standards are met throughout the outage, in alignment with engineering best practices.
- Manage budgets and resources to ensure that all outage-related activities are delivered on time and within financial targets.
- Lead post-outage activities, including the preparation of close-out reports, technical documentation, and the identification of key learnings for future improvement.
You Have
- A degree (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant engineering discipline, supported by previous experience in utilities engineering or maintenance.
- Proven experience in project management, ideally within a large-scale industrial or energy environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multidisciplinary projects involving civil, electrical, mechanical, and control and instrumentation (C&I) disciplines.
- Experience in managing contractor teams across installation, maintenance, and commissioning phases.
- Proficiency in the use of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), with a strong understanding of health and safety regulations and compliance standards.
