Base Location: For this role, we require successful applicants to be based from one of our Scottish locations and you'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in the office – Perth, Aberdeen or Inverness

Salary: £57,150 - £68,295 + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options available

The role

As a Condition Monitoring Integration Engineer, you will help ensure that monitoring equipment and data provide reliable insight into the condition and performance of our electricity network assets. You will connect engineering needs with monitoring technology and operational data systems, developing practical data structures and visualisations that help colleagues use monitoring information effectively.

You will

  • Define the engineering and data requirements for integrating new and existing condition-monitoring equipment into AVEVA PI and other approved operational data systems.
  • Work with PI tags, Asset Framework structures and PI Vision to organise monitoring data, develop routine displays and calculations, and ensure information is clear and suitable for engineering use.
  • Validate monitoring data and investigate missing, unreliable, incorrectly scaled or incorrectly mapped signals, identifying the likely source of problems and coordinating their resolution.
  • Support project design, testing, commissioning and handover, ensuring point schedules, configurations, asset identifiers, test evidence, support ownership and known limitations are properly documented.
  • Improve the reliability and consistency of condition monitoring by recovering incomplete or underperforming integrations and developing reusable requirements, templates, checks and technical guidance.

You have

  • A relevant engineering qualification, or equivalent practical experience, in areas such as electrical, electronic, instrumentation, control, communications or mechanical engineering.
  • Practical experience integrating industrial monitoring, instrumentation or control equipment with operational-data or historian systems.
  • Practical experience of AVEVA PI, formerly OSIsoft PI, or substantial experience of an equivalent industrial data historian, including working with data tags, structured asset models, visualisations and time-series data validation.
  • Experience investigating missing, unreliable, incorrectly scaled or incorrectly mapped signals across sensors, communications, system interfaces and data platforms.
  • A practical and collaborative approach, with the ability to translate engineering needs into clear technical requirements, maintain accurate records and work effectively across different technical teams.

About SSE

SSE’s purpose is to be restless every day until we make electricity clean, affordable and available for all.

We do this by developing, building, operating and investing in electricity infrastructure and businesses needed in the energy transition. This includes electricity transmission and distribution networks, onshore and offshore wind farms, hydro-electric power and flexible thermal generation. We also provide products and services for businesses and other customers.

Our investment plan will see SSE invest £33bn in critical electricity infrastructure to 2030.

SSEN Transmission own and operate the electricity transmission network across the north of Scotland. We transport electricity from where it is generated to where it is needed, ensuring a safe and reliable electricity supply for the communities we serve. But that's not all – we're upgrading the grid to deliver cleaner, homegrown power for the future and building the infrastructure needed for a cleaner electricity system to create secure power for generations to come.
