The role
The Commercial structuring manager is a strategic and commercially astute role that sits at the intersection of SSE’s energy trading capabilities and ECS’s customer-facing propositions. This role is designed to unlock value by translating complex market dynamics into actionable insights and commercial structures that support ECS’s growth in large-scale customer segments, including hyperscalers, ports, logistics, and public sector infrastructure.
The role will serve as a trusted advisor to the Market Development team, offering in-depth expertise in power markets, hedging strategies, and risk management. The role requires a blend of analytical rigour, commercial creativity, and stakeholder fluency to shape propositions that are both compelling to customers and aligned with SSE’s risk appetite and operational capabilities.
You will
Design and evaluate bespoke commercial structures (e.g. PPAs, sleeving, tolling) that align with customer needs and SSE’s risk appetite.
Collaborate with Group Risk and Energy Markets to assess credit, volume, and price exposure.
Support ECS in navigating regulatory frameworks and market mechanisms.
Provide forward-looking insights on commodity trends, policy developments, and market design changes across GB and Irish markets.
Act as the energy market lead on ECS proposition development squads, working alongside Market Development Managers, Commercial Analysts, and Account Teams.
Represent ECS in customer-facing discussions where energy market expertise is required to build trust and credibility.
Carry out modelling based on specific customer requests.
You have
Degree Educated in a relevant discipline
Familiarity with the Energy Markets business model and how this fits into the Group structure
In-depth understanding of the Ireland and GB wholesale energy markets
Knowledge of the obligations, regulations & legislation affecting the Energy Markets business
High degree of business experience with an ability to understand complex solutions and deliver complex information to senior staff
