Salary: £47,600 - £71,600 (DOE) + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

What is the Role?

The Commercial Policy Manager contributes to the delivery of the commercial business aims of SSEN Transmission by engaging proactively with future industry reform. Working closely with all levels of the business, the role will seek to understand internal and external challenges facing the business that relate to, or could be impacted upon by, long term industry reform, this will include prospective reforms to the connections process.

The responsibilities and duties of the Commercial Policy Manager will include:

- Responsible for continuous improvement in SSEN Transmission's commercial and charging arrangements, developing new policies and charging principles as required.

- Lead on the implementation of commercial policy via the identification and implementation of process improvements; ensuring effective communication and collaboration with other departments.

- Where policy changes are identified as required, you will engage positively with all internal and external stakeholders around all changes that have the potential to affect the SSEN Transmission business.

- Identify opportunities, risks and threats, ensuring you remove barriers to entry whilst meeting regulatory and statutory compliance with licence obligations, applicable industry codes and the SSEN Transmission Charging Statement and Methodology. 

- Act as the representative of SSEN Transmission, working with a wide range of stakeholders including other electricity network owners, wider industry participants and local and central Government, the Electricity System Operator, and the regulator, Ofgem.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- Thorough understanding of the GB Networks businesses gained in a commercial, regulatory or legal environment.

- Experience in dealing with external stakeholders including the System Operator, other transmission owners, Ofgem, DECC, Government departments (UK and Scottish Gov) and key industry bodies.

- Proven track record in successfully delivering operations within a commercial environment combined with an understanding of the price control challenges and targets around RIIO-T2 and RIIO-T3. 

- Demonstrable experience in people management skills and the ability to network, internally/externally to facilitate development of stakeholders and key industry influencers. As such you will have the confidence and IT skills to conduct formal presentations and have a background within a customer driven environment, possessing fantastic customer service skills. 

- You will have excellent planning, organisational and presentation skills in order to influence stakeholders and carry out commercial negotiations to fulfil objectives within challenging timescales.
