About the Role
Base Location: Perth Training Centre. Other locations will be considered, but as most of our training and assessments are completed in-person, 4 days per week is required at the Perth Training Centre.
Salary: £49,004- £57,728 + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

We have a fantastic opportunity in our Learning & Talent team for a Cable Jointing Trainer & Assessor to support the development of teams within our Distribution business. If you can demonstrate strong technical experience and a passion for developing people, we'll provide the support and development for you to become a successful trainer. A developing trainer may not fulfil the requirements for the advertised salary immediately although a development plan will be in place to achieve this. This is an exciting, challenging, and rewarding role with fantastic opportunities for development.
You will
- Facilitate training and conduct assessments to ensure our people have the technical knowledge and skills to support safe and effective operations.
- Assist with the development of training content, to ensure it is aligned to current rules, procedures, and best working practices.
- Plan the delivery of training plans and content across the UK that meets the needs of our customers.
- Provide advice and guidance as a technical expert on the implementation of operational procedures, engaging with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Deliver training to support both new employees, as well as upskilling and assuring the competence of existing employees and contract partners, as part of a continual review cycle for authorisations.
You have
- A technical background with suitable experience working on UK distribution networks is essential.
- Recently held distribution network authorisations to undertake live LV working and switching operations on LV distribution networks are essential. Additional Authorisations for LV & HV generator connections and experience/authorised with Overhead Lines would be desirable.
- Excellent communication skills with a flair for developing people and facilitating engaging and inclusive learning environments for a diverse workforce. Experience in coaching others, teaching, and assessing would advantageous but we'll provide the development to achieve Level 3 qualifications in Training and Assessing if you hold the required technical and communication skills.
- Strong operational background, with experience jointing LV and HV cables on distribution networks or working on overhead lines.
- A recognised safety qualification such as NEBOSH/IOSH or a sound understanding of UK Safety Regulations (ESQCR, Electricity at Work and Environmental) would be beneficial.
The standard work pattern for this role is 37 hours per week across 4 days (Monday to Thursday), however alternative work patterns may be considered.
