About the Role

Base Location: Glasgow

Salary: £40,600 - £61,000 + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working Pattern: 12 month Fixed Term Contract | Full Time | Flexible First options available

We are excited to offer an opportunity for an Accountant to join our team. In this role, you will ensure exceptional financial control for the SSE Group Services entities, which deliver essential corporate functions such as Legal, HR, Facilities Management, and IT services to the SSE Group and its business units.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Month end preparation and reporting through providing useful narrative for operational and capital expenditure 
  • Preparation of balance sheet reconciliations to ensure reliable financial reporting and a strong financial control environment
  • Fixed asset and project accounting including management of the subledger, period end financial disclosures, IFRS 16 lease accounting and applying technical knowledge to make accounting judgements
  • Support in the Group and subsidiary financial statements statutory audits
  • Driving team and organisational performance by identifying and implementing opportunities for process improvement.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

  • Qualified with a professional accounting body (e.g. ICAS, ACCA or CIMA).
  • Effectively plan, organise and prioritise tasks and activities to maximise productivity.
  • Accurately process information with precision and minimal errors.
  • Eager to explore and gain a deeper understanding of your role and industry by asking insightful questions, seeking innovative solutions to challenges, and continuously learning.
