Base Location: Glasgow, Reading or Havant 

Salary: £78,400 - £117,600 + car /car allowance + performance-related bonus and a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family. 

Working Pattern: Permanent Full Time  

The Role 

The Senior Programme Delivery Manager will lead the delivery of the Network Services vision for SSE Group Technical Services (GTS), ensuring alignment and fulfilment of strategic ambitions across all SSE Business Units. The role will focus on evaluating, shaping, and executing a credible delivery plan, underpinned by a clear understanding of associated risks and a commitment to maintaining continuous stakeholder engagement throughout the process. 

You will 

  • Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Management - Develop strong relationships with SSE technical, regulatory, procurement, delivery, and operational teams. Collaborate with business units to define network service needs and drive improvements to the operating model and supplier engagement—enhancing efficiency, certainty, and strategic value across services such as LTE, APN, VPN, and fibre. 
  • Strategic Planning & Technical Leadership - Provide strategic input into technical roadmaps and business continuity planning, ensuring seamless delivery through operational insight. Maintain oversight of network architecture principles, including IT/OT DMZ segmentation and firewall governance. 
  • Risk Management & Governance - Identify and manage network services risks across SSE business units, implementing group-wide mitigation strategies. Oversee programme-level risks related to network management and collaborate with stakeholders to establish governance for critical supply chain partners and assets, ensuring compliance with encryption standards, secure access controls, and physical security. 
  • Financial Oversight & Value Realisation - Identify group-level synergies, technology alignment, and supply chain efficiencies. Develop and execute strategies to maximise value for SSE. Monitor and control programme budgets to ensure cost-effective operations and financial accountability, including cost planning for network infrastructure upgrades and platform transitions. 

You have 

  • Strong understanding of both regulated and non-regulated energy generation, transmission, and distribution sectors, including current challenges, emerging trends, and future technologies. 
  • Ability to interpret business processes and align IT services to support organisational goals and strategic outcomes. 
  • Proven experience in planning and executing complex programmes within technical and infrastructure contexts.  
  • Capability to assess and shape strategic direction, contributing to long-term planning and transformation initiatives. 
  • Awareness of risk management and governance practices within technical delivery environments, ensuring compliance and resilience.
