Salary: £58,100- £87,100 + car /car allowance + performance-related bonus and a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role

SSEN Transmission is going through a period of unprecedented growth around the critical infrastructure it builds and operates in the North of Scotland - investing at least £22bn in the period until March 2031. Transmission Digital is a key enabler for this growth through the transformation of the underpinning IT and OT services that keep the lights on and allow SSEN Transmission to deliver an expanded 'Network for Net Zero'.

This role will be responsible for leading the Operational Technology (OT) Infrastructure Services function within SSEN Transmission OT. It will oversee these capabilities end to end – running the critical 24/7 services that support our operational assets to ensure the lights stay on in our network area, as well as managing significant volumes of change across our Networks as we modernise them during the RIIO-T3 pricing period to enable the network to scale and meet this substantial demand.

You will

  • Manage daily operations of vital infrastructure supporting our Operational Technology (OT) systems, including corporate sites, substations, and virtual environments, ensuring seamless performance across all ITIL domains such as incident, problem, release, and capacity management.

  • Champion operational excellence and compliance, ensuring that all operational and change activities meet NIS Regulations and drive continued progress toward enhanced CAF maturity.

  • Shape the future of our OT Infrastructure, defining and delivering the long-term Infrastructure and Platforms Strategy for SSEN Transmission, setting the vision for modernisation and resilience through 2030 and beyond.

  • Lead the design and build of robust infrastructure solutions that enable our OT change programmes and support the safe, reliable operation of critical systems.
  • Inspire and guide a diverse, hybrid team of permanent staff, contractors, and third-party partners, fostering collaboration and accountability to deliver outstanding results across our OT landscape.

You have

  • Deep experience managing on-premise infrastructure, with a firm grasp of the operational realities and challenges of keeping critical systems running securely and efficiently.

  • A broad understanding of modern IT and OT infrastructure, with the ability to translate emerging technologies into practical OT solutions, including experience with AWS cloud services and leading migrations to cloud environments.

  • A track record of delivering infrastructure solutions end-to-end, from shaping requirements through design, build, and successful implementation.

  • The strategic mindset with real delivery credentials, able to define clear infrastructure strategies and demonstrate tangible success in bringing them to life.

  • The leadership and collaboration skills to bring the best out of teams and partners, building capability and driving performance across a complex, multi-vendor environment.
