Portfolio Optimisation Lead

Base Location: Reading, Glasgow or Perth. You'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in one of these locations.

Salary: £51,600 - £77,400 + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role

Are you passionate about using data to drive real-world impact? Join our Asset Analysis Team as a Portfolio Optimisation Lead for a 12 month fixed term contract and play a pivotal role in maximising the performance and reliability of our electricity network. You’ll lead on delivering thematic insights that drive actionable improvements, shape investment decision-making through detailed scenario analysis, and support the transition to a low-carbon future.

You Will

• Act as Product Owner for our investment optimiser, driving continuous improvement and ensuring investment decisions maximise value across risk, performance, customer and financial outcomes.
• Deliver portfolio optimisation, scenario analysis, sensitivity testing and network risk assessments to support investment planning and regulatory decision-making.
• Develop and maintain value frameworks, analytical models and performance reporting that enable evidence-based prioritisation of asset interventions and investment programmes.
• Collaborate with Asset Planning, Asset Strategy, Digital and Data teams to improve the quality, accessibility and value of thematic insights used to action investment decisions.
• Provide technical leadership by translating complex challenges into clear recommendations, mentoring analysts and enhancing analytical capability, processes and ways of working.

You Have

• Expertise in optimisation techniques, forecasting, scenario analysis, cost-benefit assessment and other quantitative methods used to support complex investment decisions. Experience with Copperleaf Asset Investment Planning is highly desirable.
• Significant experience within a regulated utility, infrastructure or asset-intensive environment, with a strong understanding of asset management, investment planning and portfolio optimisation.
• Advanced capability in Python, SQL and modern analytical platforms, with experience developing and maintaining business-critical analytical solutions.
• Proven experience leading complex analytical projects involving large, diverse and imperfect datasets.
