Electrical craftsperson

Base Location: Clachan Power Station, Inverawe Power Station or Sloy power station.

Salary: SS04 £36,139 - £43,188 depending on skills and experience + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role

SSE Renewables Hydro operate the largest fleet of hydro-electric power assets across eight hydro schemes in Scotland. Our portfolio totals 1,459MW of installed capacity, which includes pumped storage and flexible hydro. Our assets consist of some of the most iconic power station sites constructed, which brought hydro-electric power to the Scottish Glens 80 years ago.

We currently have an opportunity for an Electrical Craftsperson to join our Hydro Generation Operations and Maintenance team based at Clachan, Sloy or Inverawe Power stations in Argyll.

Some of your main accountabilities will include;

• Carry out mechanical and electrical maintenance, along with civil works, safely and effectively within your area of competence.
• Work collaboratively with maintenance colleagues to diagnose issues, complete repairs and deliver designated project work.
• Complete routine inspections and checks to maintain equipment and fixed plant to high standards of safety, reliability and operational performance.
• Collaborate with the wider team to report operational defects, complete risk assessments and carry out environmental and safety inspections, while undertaking training to operate and isolate fixed generation plant.

To be successful in this role, we would love you to have;

• An Electrical or Multi-skilled craftsperson background, ideally with previous experience of working on Electrical Generation Equipment.
• A minimum qualification of NVQ Level 3 / City and Guilds or equivalent craft apprenticeship certificates.
• A practical mindset with a passion for working as a part of a team. Excellent communicate skills are essential as you will be interacting with the public and people at all levels of the business.
• A good degree of computer literacy, with the ability to become proficient in using our maintenance scheduling and reporting software and other company software applications for which training will be given.
• A flexible attitude to all aspect of work in the section, with the ability to work as part of a team and communicate with colleagues effectively.

Due to the nature of the role you may, from time to time, be required to work outside in all weather conditions and it may be necessary to carry out work out with normal working hours.

A full driving licence is essential, and you should reside, or be prepared to relocate within 30 miles of the Power Stations Listed
