The role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Operational Technology Engineer to join the SSEN Transmission OT team. As part of the OT Systems team (SysOps), you will provide technical expertise to OT projects and support the development, enhancement and upgrade of our key OT systems.

You will also work closely with the Technology Operations team (TechOps) to proactively monitor, maintain and improve the reliability of our OT systems.

Key responsibilities for this role will include:

  • Support the introduction of new technologies through detailed proof of concepts, research into emerging industry trends, and recommendations for strategic improvements.
  • Work closely with the Transmission Control Centre to help innovate, develop, enhance and simulate their suite of control systems.
  • Contribute to the ongoing cyber security of critical Transmission OT systems, including participation in cyber response and disaster recovery activities (both live and exercised), and the management and testing of system backups in line with Enhanced CAF (eCAF) requirements.
  • Assist the TechOps team in investigating and resolving complex technical issues or faults. This may also lead to being part of a 24-hour standby rota.

You have

  • The ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively within a team of technical specialists, with strong relationship‑building and communication skills to engage confidently with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Experience working on technical OT projects in either a Subject Matter Expert or technical delivery capacity.
