IDNO Network Operations Manager

Base Location: Reading, London or Glasgow

Salary: £50,100 - £75,100 + car / car allowance + performance-related bonus, plus benefits

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time |  Flexible First options available

The role:

Optimal Power Networks is SSE’s Independent Distribution Network Operator. We own and operate local electricity distribution networks serving new commercial and mixed-use developments including EV charging hubs, business parks and data centres. As Network Manager, you will support the Head of Operations in the safe, efficient and compliant management of OPN’s electricity distribution system — overseeing maintenance, inspections, defects, faults and reactive works. You will have responsibility for managing an Operations function delivered mainly through sub-contracted partners and Service Level Agreements (SLAs)

You will:

• Monitor network performance, identify risks and implement mitigations.
• Ensure delivery of planned inspection and maintenance regimes.
• Safely manage fault response across the HV and LV system, ensuring customer‑focused decision making and timely customer communication.
• Lead SLA performance reviews and drive continuous improvement.
• Support adoption of new networks into OPN.

You Have:

• Strong people leadership and contractor management experience, and an understanding of supplier performance management.
• Ability to promote a strong SHE (Safety, Health & Environment) culture.
• Technical and operational experience in electricity distribution.
• HNC in Electrical & Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks, licence obligations and IDNO operations.
