The role

Operations teams are at the heart of keeping the lights on, providing a frontline response across the electricity network. When faults occur, we act quickly to restore supplies, coordinating skilled teams to diagnose and repair issues safely and efficiently. Working around the clock and in all weather conditions, we play a vital role in delivering a reliable service for our customers.

We are seeking candidates with a mechanical or electrical background to join our team, helping to maintain, inspect and repair the network infrastructure that powers homes and businesses across our communities.

You will

  • Maintain and repair electrical equipment on the network up to and including 33kV, responding to faults and restoring supplies safely and efficiently.
  • Deliver planned maintenance activities on switchgear, transformers, busbars and protection equipment to meet performance targets.
  • Carry out network switching and restoration activities up to 33kV in line with your authorisation level.
  • Plan and coordinate work activities to ensure safe and effective delivery.
  • Build positive relationships with customers, contractors and key stakeholders, delivering excellent customer service.
  • Work outdoors in a demanding environment and take advantage of ongoing training and development opportunities.

You have

  • Experience in mechanical or electrical fitting, with knowledge of electricity distribution networks being advantageous but not essential, as full training can be provided.
  • Existing authorisation as an Electrical Senior Authorised Person up to 11kV, which would be advantageous and may be reflected in the grade offered.
  • A strong commitment to health and safety, with the ability to promote safe working practices in everything you do.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, with confidence dealing directly with customers and stakeholders in a professional manner.
  • The ability to build positive working relationships and represent the business effectively in customer-facing situations.
  • A full, clean driving licence and the flexibility to work varied hours and travel to different locations when required.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach, with the ability to respond effectively to operational and customer needs.
