Civil Project Engineer

Base Location: For this role, we require successful applicants to be based from one of our Scottish locations and you'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in the office or on site. Office locations - Glasgow, Aberdeen, Perth, Inverness

Salary: £51,600 - £77,400 + car / car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role

SSEN Transmission Onshore AC are currently recruiting for an experienced Civil Project Engineer to support our growing portfolio of projects throughout the delivery of high profile, high value and technically complex projects on the Electricity Transmission network in Scotland.

The role is responsible for taking projects from initial development and design, through to delivery, commissioning and hand over to operations.

You will

• Develop and deliver civil engineering solutions across some of the UK's largest transmission and substation projects, helping enable the transition to a low-carbon energy future.
• Support the development of engineering designs from concept through to construction and commissioning, covering areas such as site development, earthworks, drainage, access arrangements and associated infrastructure.
• Define engineering scopes, prepare technical specifications, evaluate tenders and manage specialist engineering services to support successful project delivery.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams throughout the project lifecycle, contributing to design reviews, engineering assurance, HAZID and risk assessment activities, and the resolution of complex technical challenges.
• Promote a strong safety culture by applying CDM requirements, engineering standards and industry best practice, while identifying and managing engineering risks and opportunities.

You have

• A degree, HND, or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, or substantial relevant industry experience, supported by strong technical knowledge of industry standards, specifications, and the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM).
• Experience developing and delivering civil engineering solutions for major infrastructure, utilities, energy, construction or industrial projects.
• A strong understanding of civil engineering principles including earthworks, drainage, geotechnical and structural engineering, together with knowledge of relevant design standards, regulations and engineering assurance processes.
• Experience working across multidisciplinary teams, using digital engineering tools and engaging effectively with stakeholders to support project delivery.
• The ability to manage technical risk and support engineering decision-making throughout the project lifecycle. For Senior Civil Engineer opportunities, you'll also have experience providing technical leadership, mentoring engineers and leading complex engineering workstreams.
