Base Location: For this role, we require successful applicants to be based from one of our Scottish locations and you'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in the office – Perth / Aberdeen / Inverness

Salary: £50,100 - £75,100 + car /car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role

As part of the SSEN Transmission Pathway to 2030 programme of works, we are seeking an experienced Cable Project Engineer to join our Offshore Delivery team to help drive forward our projects and successfully deliver a network for Net Zero. Our projects include both state-of the-art AC cable system technology and HVDC cable systems to support grid reinforcement.  This role will include cable engineering in both onshore and offshore environments.

You will

- Support project Front End Engineering Design (FEED) activities such as options assessment, cable route development, landfall selection and risk assessment. This includes interdisciplinary collaboration alongside various teams including environmental and land consenting, geotechnical, civil and offshore installation engineers. Additionally, you will also support the development of technical specifications and support tender evaluation and contract negotiation. 

- As a key member of Designer and Principal Designer teams, promote the safety-in-design ethos and discharge these CDM duties on behalf of SSE Transmission. This includes risk reduction (technical, quality, health, and safety) to the point of elimination or as low as is reasonably practicable

- Review and acceptance of Contractor engineering and design deliverables for compliance with Employer's requirements, legislation and safe practice.

- Supervise installation and commissioning works for compliance with Employer's requirements and legislation.

You have

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- BEng/BSc qualification in a relevant engineering discipline. CEng status would be beneficial.

- Technical knowledge and experience in holding key technical position(s) during development and delivery of HVAC or HVDC transmission cable projects.

- Working experience and understanding of EPC contracts and CDM regulations; particularly with respect to roles of Supervisor and Principal Designer.

- Competent awareness and working knowledge of relevant industry standards, specifications and recommendations. 

- Excellent communication, time-management, and organisational skills.
