A Cable Jointer is at the heart of our network, helping us to power change and this is an opportunity to develop an exciting career and further authorisations within SSE.
You'll be working on HV & LV Network, carrying out jointing, cabling and excavation work on a pre-planned and quick response basis.
Base Location: New Forest, Poole, Portsmouth
Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | 37 Hours Per Week
Total Reward package during training: Circa £44k OTE
- Base salary: £29,504 - £34,757
Total Reward package once qualified: Circa £51k OTE
- Base salary: £34,749 - £40,939 + overtime + standby payments.

Jointer Programme:
The programme can take 18 to 24 months depending on your personal capabilities and is centred on an initial course at our training school followed by buddying with an experienced cable jointing team where you will build a portfolio of work which will allow you to gain authorisations to work on the network.
By the end of the programme, you'll have gained valuable on-the job experience, learned new skills and gained an industry recognised qualification, enabling you to have the opportunity to build a rewarding and successful career in the energy sector and contributing to the delivery of NET ZERO.
This role can be demanding, and you'll be required to respond quickly to emergency situations; we want to provide the best possible service to our customers in their time of need. This will involve working outdoors in all weather conditions with a requirement to undertake out of hours standby duties and short notice attendance for storm situations.
During your Jointer training programme, you will have the opportunity to build on your existing skills and experiences gained in other industries. The training offers a mix of technical, academic and on the job training which is provided by our dedicated training school. Our programme enables you to earn while you learn, whilst also gaining vital experience and skills as you study towards a nationally recognised qualification.
