Salary: £47,600 - £65,000 + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role

SSEN Transmission has an opportunity for a manager of network planning policy to join our Network Policy team within our Strategic Energy Planning department.

Your work delivered within this role will contribute to strategies, investments and external positioning, in areas including north of Scotland, future network policy, long term network development and the next price control.

You will

- Research and communication of the energy network landscape and industry benchmarking to help decision-makers in the networks business optimise performance, investment decisions and strategic decisions.

- Working with a broad cross-section of the Business Planning and Commercial directorate, wider Networks business and corporate support services including development, engineering, customer experience, finance, regulation and corporate affairs, with stakeholders at all levels

- Supporting the development of data models; producing and developing reports and dashboards used to inform senior stakeholders. Improving the quality, quantity, regularity and consistency of research and insight that is collected and generated

- Communicating with external relevant parties (National Grid ESO, other Transmission Owners, Distribution Network Operators and demand and generation customers)  to provide comment/ opinion and share information.

- Numerate skills, curiosity, commitment, a good work discipline and willingness to learn. You will become data and system experts, problem solvers, critical thinkers, future strategists, analytical communicators and team-focused collaborators.

- Enthusiasm for energy and engineering with a passion for innovative ideas that will help to transform the energy industry

You have

- Quantitative and qualitative analytical capability with the ability to handle and analyse large quantities of data and information coupled with experience within a research/insight/energy analysis role

- The ability to work with people from a range of disciplines in the organisation, out with your own area of expertise coupled with good communication and presentation skills to discuss technical and code information.

- The ability to prioritise, plan and organise whilst challenging and questioning if anything is unclear.

- A working knowledge of Excel and Power BI dashboards

- An understanding of the electricity network industry and the Government’s policies towards Net Zero would be advantageous
