Base Location: For this role, we require successful applicants to be based from one of our Scottish locations and you'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in the office – Glasgow, Aberdeen, Perth, or Inverness.
Salary: £58,100 - £87,100 + car / car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role
We have an exciting opportunity to join the team working to deliver the Eastern Green Link 3 HVDC project. The project, connecting Scotland and England to support the transfer of renewable electricity to key UK centres of demand, forms one of the largest which SSEN Transmission are involved with over the next decade, comprising High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) Convertor Stations, subsea cable installation and AC connections at either end of the system.
We are recruiting for a Senior Project Manager to join the Northern Cable work package, focused on the delivery of the HVDC cable from the Landfall, near Peterhead, to the HVDC Convertor Hall located within the Netherton Hub development and HVAC cable between the Convertor Hall and the 400kV AC substation. This offers not only the prospect of joining the largest project ever to be developed on the UK transmission network, but also an opportunity to grow and enhance your career at the cutting edge of the journey to Net Zero.
You will
- Support the Lead Project Manager(s) in the management of the enabling works during the initial phase and sequencing of the main works during execution.
- Provide oversight of the land acquisition strategy from the Land Team to ensure that all land rights and agreements are in-place for the execution of the works.
- Manage the FIDIC contract management of your package, including interface management, dispute resolution and change control, whilst providing strong commercial leadership to your project team.
- Plan, Monitor, and Control projects or packages in line with Project Execution Plans to ensure that these are executed to cost, schedule and quality.
- Ensure the use of recognised project management processes, reporting, methods, techniques and tools.
You have
- A proven track record of leading and safely delivering projects or programmes of work through the whole lifecycle to cost, schedule and quality in the Transmission, Construction, Energy, or other regulated industry / the wider utilities sector – cable civils and enabling works delivery experience is beneficial.
- An engineering, construction, or project management qualification/degree or equivalent experience.
- Thorough engineering or construction knowledge and understanding, including the associated environmental and safety legislation, e.g. the CDM 2015 regulations.
- Commercially astute, with sound knowledge and experience of negotiating, administering, and managing Contracts (NEC/FIDIC), with the ability to forecast and control costs as well as develop and manage integrated project programmes.
- Experience in the delivery of disaggregated contracts managing complex interfaces.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written) and a strong understanding of project management systems and governance for the execution of large projects.
