The role

As Senior Project Engineer, you'll be managing a portfolio of renewable projects in Poland, leading engineering activities from early-stage development through construction, commissioning and operational handover.

Working within our growing European business, you'll play a key role in delivering a significant pipeline of onshore renewable projects that will contribute to Poland energy transition and support SSE Renewables' continued growth across Europe.

This is a senior role where you'll shape engineering strategy, influence major investment decisions, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, high-quality and cost-effective renewable energy infrastructure. You will provide technical leadership across all engineering disciplines, ensuring projects are designed and delivered to the highest standards of safety, performance and reliability.

While the primary focus will be on onshore wind, you’ll also provide technical support and expertise across wider renewable technologies including solar PV and battery energy storage where required.

You will

  • Lead the engineering delivery of utility-scale onshore wind projects across Poland from development through commissioning and operational handover, acting as the technical authority for wind farm design, balance of plant infrastructure, electrical systems, substations and grid connection works.
  • Review, challenge and optimize engineering studies, technical specifications, layouts and detailed designs, ensuring solutions are safe, compliant, constructible, cost-effective and optimized for long-term performance.
  • Provide technical leadership during project development and procurement activities, supporting site selection, optimized design, technical due diligence, tender preparation, supplier evaluations and contractor selection.
  • Manage external engineering consultants, Owner's Engineers, OEMs and contractors, ensuring quality, consistency and timely delivery of engineering outputs while supporting interactions with grid operators, regulatory authorities and other key stakeholders.
  • Identify and manage technical, programme and cost risks, promote a strong safety-by-design culture, and drive value engineering and continuous improvement initiatives to optimize project performance, reduce costs and improve constructability.

You have

  • A degree (or equivalent experience) in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical or Energy Engineering, together with significant experience delivering utility-scale onshore renewable projects.
  • Strong technical knowledge of wind farm balance of plant design, MV/HV electrical systems, substations, transmission infrastructure, grid connection processes and renewable energy project delivery.
  • Experience reviewing and approving engineering studies, technical reports, drawings, calculations and contractor deliverables, with a good understanding of polish engineering standards, permitting requirements and project development processes.
  • Strong commercial and stakeholder management skills, including experience supporting procurement activities, contractor management, budget control, value engineering and collaboration with developers, consultants, OEMs, EPC contractors, grid operators and regulatory bodies.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, fluency in English, professional proficiency in Polish (preferred), Spanish language skills (advantageous), and willingness to travel regularly to project sites across Poland.
