The role
The Senior Project Controls and Assurance Manager will be part of the new Project Services Centre of Excellence within SSEN Transmission; an exciting new function setup to drive and support the delivery of project services across our Transmission business. You'll play a key role in setting project control standards across SSEN Transmission's portfolio of Large Capital Projects and will be critical in ensuring that relevant project services controls are in place, aligning the Onshore, Offshore and Development directorates to ensure standards compliance and implementing a robust assurance programme across the Transmission portfolio.
You will
- Set the standards for change management, scheduling, governance and document control, ensuring the sharing of best practice and knowledge management throughout the Transmission business and drive continuous improvement in Project Services.
- Support Project Assessment submissions to Ofgem including sharing best practice, undertaking schedule risk analysis, reviewing submissions, and ensuring high quality submissions are provided alongside the project team, finance, P&C, legal, and regulation colleagues.
- Conduct project assurance/peer reviews to validate compliance with Centre of Excellence standards and processes and identification of any non-conformance issues, and the implementation of any associated action plans to ensure future compliance.
- Work cross functionally specifically with the relevant Head of Project Services, Delivery and the wider Centre of Excellence team to ensure the elements of assurance, change and document control are being successfully delivered in the Transmission business.
- Define and embed fit for purpose SSENT governance forums and proactively analyse, identify and raise any trends in project data, or risks that may impact successful project and programme delivery, offering key insights and recommendations to senior leadership for informed decision making.
You have
- Demonstrable ability as an SME in Project Controls coupled with experience of working in a high profile or risk-based organisation and understand the structure of risk management, reporting, and effective use of lessons learnt.
- Clear experience and knowledge of key project processes, including status reporting, budgeting, estimating, planning, dependency management, risk and issue management, quality gates, risk management and change management.
- Excellent stakeholder and relationship management, ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels (internal and external), gaining the collaboration and support from stakeholders in a matrix environment.
- An understanding of challenges and opportunities facing the energy sector paired with a drive to deliver continuous improvement ideally gained within the Utilities industry.
- Demonstrable ability to lead, motivate and develop your project controls team to ensure they deliver and perform to their full potential.
