Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time

The role

As Senior Mechanical & Project Engineer, you'll play a key role in maintaining the safe, reliable and efficient operation of critical generation assets across Tarbert Station and the Peaking Plants. Working as part of the Engineering team, you'll provide expert mechanical engineering and project delivery support, driving asset integrity, preventative maintenance strategies, outage planning and capital projects that support both operational performance and long-term business objectives.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you'll contribute to the development and delivery of short and long-term asset plans, ensuring engineering excellence and continuous improvement across the site.

Some of your other main accountabilities will include;

  • Lead the maintenance and improvement of mechanical plant and equipment, ensuring high standards of safety, reliability, availability and efficiency.
  • Deliver engineering projects from concept through to commissioning, including business case development, specification, procurement, contractor management and implementation.
  • Manage maintenance activities, budgets and contractor resources to support safe and efficient plant operation.
  • Develop and maintain engineering records, technical documentation and asset history to support compliance requirements and audits.
  • Provide technical advice and engineering support to operational teams while contributing to the station's engineering strategy and future investment plans.

To be successful in this role, we would love you to have;

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Extensive experience within power generation, petrochemical or heavy industry environments, with expertise in rotating equipment, pressure systems and mechanical balance of plant.
  • A strong understanding of business processes and corporate engineering governance, with the ability to ensure process plant operations and maintenance comply with regulatory and company standards within the energy or heavy industry sectors.
  • Proven experience delivering engineering projects in operational environments, from developing business cases, scopes of work and technical specifications through to contractor management and successful delivery.
  • Contractor management experience, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with OEMs, suppliers and contractors.
  • Knowledge of SHE standards, supported by a proven track record of safe delivery; a NEBOSH certificate would be desirable.
