Our Distribution businesses are subject to oversight by the industry regulator, Ofgem and must adhere to five-year price control periods. In this role you will learn how the business operates and the nature of our regulatory obligations under our existing RIIO price controls.
As Regulatory Finance Accountant, you'll be responsible for financial planning & analysis and regulatory reporting for our Distribution businesses at a critical time of growth in the industry to aid net zero targets, reporting to the Head of Regulatory Finance & Core Operations.
You'll be responsible for long-term forecasting and regulatory reporting to Ofgem and will be vital in the decision-making process by providing robust financial information to stakeholders. This will involve interaction with the business to understand regulatory aims and priorities as well as a sound understanding of the regulatory mechanism. The role is also corporate finance focussed and will be key in both supporting and evaluating business decisions.
You will
Provide financial modelling of long-term forecasts for our Distribution businesses, providing financial insight, conducting sensitivity analysis and communicating key messages to stakeholders in order to drive business decisions.
Be the key point of contact for interactions with our Regulation, Corporate Finance and Investor Relations colleagues with reference to both internal and external modelling.
Conduct Regulatory reporting to Ofgem including performance overview and tariff setting.
Provide regulatory finance support for both the current and future price control periods for Distribution.
Establish and maintain a working relationship with Ofgem, specifically relating to price control queries.
You have
Appropriate accounting qualification (ICAS, ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW or CIPFA) in an equivalent role.
Understanding of financial systems, data management and general application of estimation and calculation methodologies would be highly advantageous.
Confidence reviewing finance related elements of legal/regulatory documentation.
Financial modelling experience is desirable.
Ability to work to tight timescales, under pressure and deliver to a high standard with a pro-active attitude and uses initiative to develop financial models and outputs.
