Salary: £44,000 - £65,900 + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working Pattern: Permanent OR Fixed Term Contract | Full Time | Flexible First options available

Permanent and Fixed Term opportunities (12 month) are available.

The role

SSEN Transmission is experiencing significant growth driven by the need to connect considerable volumes of renewable generation onto our network to facilitate the pathway to Net Zero.  Our regulation team is crucial in developing and delivering transmission infrastructure in the North of Scotland.

As a Senior Analyst in the Regulation Team, you will help the wider SSEN Transmission business understand the opportunities and barriers to delivering projects, new services, and consumer outcomes by translating existing policies and regulations and identifying upcoming reforms.  You will be working closely with senior stakeholders across the business to achieve these outcomes and goals.

We place real value on thorough evidence and analysis to inform our decisions. It’s essential that we continually evaluate the impact of current policies and regulations and ensure that decisions about future changes are well-informed and evidence-led. This means you will need a good understanding of UK energy system policy, network regulations, and the wider net zero environment.

Our Senior Analysts work across a range of policy areas including, price controls, industry reform and wider net zero policy. You will lead on developing and responding to consultations and industry working groups.  You will support senior colleagues in the development and implementation of broader work packages, including the ASTI framework submissions and the enduring regulatory price controls.

Permanent opportunities and a 12 month Fixed Term opportunity are available.

You will

  • Support the development of business cases and regulatory submissions, helping secure investment through Ofgem’s ASTI framework and wider price control mechanisms to enable the delivery of our strategic objectives.
  • Lead and coordinate research, analysis and policy development activities, helping to shape regulatory positions and influence outcomes in support of SSEN Transmission’s priorities.
  • Manage and coordinate regulatory projects, ensuring key milestones are delivered on time while working collaboratively across SSEN Transmission and the wider SSE Group.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Ofgem, representing the business in industry forums, responding to consultations and supporting effective engagement across the sector.
In this role, you will benefit from the support and expertise of colleagues across the Regulation Team and the wider SSEN Transmission business, helping you to succeed and develop.

You have

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify complex issues, assess root causes and develop practical, evidence-based solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex regulatory and technical topics into clear, concise and compelling messages for a range of audiences.
  • Experience working within a regulated utility environment, supported by a degree in Economics, Business, Science, Engineering, Law, or a related discipline.
  • An understanding of the GB energy regulatory framework and wider energy sector, with an interest in how regulatory, political and policy developments shape the delivery of major infrastructure and investment programmes.
