Salary: £50,100 - £75,100 + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role

As Regulation Manager in SSE’s Group Regulation team, you’ll work across the SSE Group to understand the challenges shaping our regulatory environment, bring together perspectives from different teams, and lead the development of SSE’s positions on key regulatory matters. You’ll prepare clear briefings for senior leaders and support effective engagement with regulators and external stakeholders. This is an opportunity to influence strategic decision-making and play an important role in addressing the regulatory challenges of the energy transition.

You will

  • Build strong relationships across the Group to understand differing perspectives on key regulatory issues, and use your leadership and influencing skills to align internal stakeholders behind clear, well-evidenced positions.
  • Lead engagement with regulators and other external stakeholders to understand, interpret and respond to regulatory and policy developments.
  • Interpret and analyse data, policy and regulatory documents, using qualitative and quantitative evidence to shape SSE’s positions and support engagement with regulators and other stakeholders.

You have

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to synthesise complex information into clear, concise and impactful communications for senior leaders, regulators and other stakeholders.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to work across internal and external networks to raise awareness of issues, gather insight, and support strategic priorities.
  • Strong understanding of how legislative, regulatory, policy and industry code frameworks interact, with a track record of delivering positive outcomes through regulatory engagement.
  • Good knowledge of the commercial and market drivers affecting a large, complex regulated business. Experience in energy regulation and, in particular, the operation of price controls is desirable, but not essential.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams and build credibility and trust with senior and executive stakeholders.
