Base Location: Flexible Scotland | We're proud to offer a Flexible First approach to work, and this role is no exception. We will, however, need your base 'home' location to be one of our SSEN offices or depots around Scotland, Perth, Aberdeen or Inverness

Salary: £50,100 - £75,100 + car /car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role

SSEN Transmission is recruiting a Project Manager – Change and Delivery to lead one of three critical workstreams, Design & Development Interface, Asset Integration & Operational Readiness, or Outage & Energisation Planning.

Reporting to the Head of Business Excellence, the role will manage end‑to‑end delivery of complex projects, ensuring activities are integrated, risks and change are effectively controlled, and outcomes are delivered on time and to specification. The Project Manager will drive operational readiness, benefits realisation and successful transition into business‑as‑usual in a highly regulated, multi‑stakeholder environment.

You will

  • Provide strategic leadership to ensure workstream delivery aligns with the 2030 network commissioning objectives and integrates Business-as -Usual (BAU) processes and new initiatives.
  • Oversee and coordinate programme activities from initiation to operational handover, maintaining robust scheduling, monitoring, and reporting across all requirements.
  • Lead complex projects using predictive or agile methodologies, rigorously controlling scope, change, risk, , quality, and timelines.
  • Drive benefits realisation by promoting the programme vision, reviewing business cases, and embedding improvements to maximise long-term business value.
  • Plan and manage change implementation, coordinate site activities, ensure organisational readiness, and collaborate closely with the PMO and stakeholders for clear reporting and continuous improvement.

You have

  • Strong understanding of the utilities and regulated environment, including commercial drivers, competitive markets, RIIO‑T3, and compliance requirements such as business separation, data protection, and anti‑bribery controls.
  • Extensive programme and project management experience, supported by recognised methodologies (e.g. MSP, PRINCE2, PMP, APM, Scrum), with a proven track record of delivery in complex, multi‑stakeholder settings.
  • Experience working within matrix organisations, managing matrix teams across multiple locations, and influencing without direct authority.
  • The ability to lead and deliver change in evolving environments, with a strong understanding of how change impacts people, teams, and organisations.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and commercial skills, including strong influencing, negotiation, and budget management capability.
