Base Location: For this role, we require successful applicants to be based from one of our Scottish locations –Glasgow, Inverness, Aberdeen, or Perth.
Salary: £50,100 - £75,100 + car / car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role
SSEN Transmission’s Offshore Delivery Team is currently recruiting for a Delivery Project Manager to support the delivery of the Orkney 220kV Transmission Link—a critical infrastructure project enabling the connection of island-based renewable generation to the GB electricity grid.
This role will focus on managing the Onshore Cables Package within our AC team, forming a key part of the wider Orkney portfolio. Candidates with prior experience in HVAC and/or HVDC cable systems, particularly in onshore, offshore, or subsea environments, will be well-positioned for success in this role.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a technically complex and strategically important project, involving challenges such as landfall coordination, underground cable installation, and subsea cable deployment.

You will
- Be accountable to the Business for the safety, health, and wellbeing of all personnel, and for environmental aspects of those Transmission projects activities being managed, including compliance with our framework behaviour charter and the CDM regulations.
- Plan, Monitor, and Control projects or packages in line with Project Execution Plans to ensure that these are executed to cost, schedule and quality.
- Have clear commercial responsibilities, including contract negotiation, contract awards, and NEC contract management, ensuring that any disputes are escalated as appropriate for resolution.
- Ensure the project adheres to our Safety Management Systems, best practices and the SSE Large Capital Projects (LCP) Governance processes.
- Provide guidance and demonstrate our core values as well as manage teams, ensuring these are highly capable, well-motivated, and organised to deliver consistent excellence.
You have
- A proven track record of safely delivering packages of work or projects to cost, schedule and quality in the Transmission, Construction, Energy, or other regulated industry / the wider utilities sector.
- People management experience and a passion for safety, with an understanding of project management methodology and practice to lead a multi-discipline team to success coupled with an engineering, construction, or project management qualification / degree or equivalent experience is required.
- Engineering or construction knowledge and understanding, including the associated environmental and safety legislation e.g. the CDM 2015 regulations.
- Contractual management experience (NEC3 experience is preferable), with the ability to forecast and control costs as well as develop and manage integrated project programmes
- Experience of the governance, reporting, and management requirements for project and/or programmes of work in a regulated environment, with prior budget responsibilities, ideally more than £10m.
Onsite presence is expected during execution phases for 3 days every 2nd week, so a driving licence is required.
