About this role
As Programme and Planning Manager, you’ll lead the planning function across complex projects for SSE Energy Solutions Distributed Energy (DE) department, ensuring delivery is efficient, effective, and commercially focused. Working closely with the Head of Shared Services and the Leadership Team, you’ll shape programme delivery of complex, multi-million pound infrastructure projects, and use performance insights to drive a culture of engagement, safety, and continuous improvement. This role is ideal for a proven leader who can influence, innovate, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
You will
Lead and manage the planning function to support major programmes and projects, across DE and the wider SSE Group.
Oversee multi-million-pound budgets, ensuring efficiency and exceptional customer service.
Use business metrics and performance data to drive improvement and delivery outcomes.
Instil a strong safety culture and engage stakeholders at all levels.
Motivate, coach, and develop teams, including contractors and third-party partners.
Build collaborative relationships and influence stakeholders to achieve shared goals.
You have
Experience in planning and/or managing planning functions in large infrastructure, utilities, construction, public sector, or technology projects. Experience with Primavera (P6) software is preferred.
A recognised qualification in project management or business, with a proven track record of delivering major change and infrastructure programmes and managing substantial budgets.
Strong commercial awareness with an ability to balance efficiency and customer service.
People leadership experience, with the ability to inspire teams across multiple levels, and within a matrix structure.
Resilience, drive, and a track record of delivering improvements and outstanding influencing and stakeholder engagement.
