Salary: €90,300 - €135,500 depending on skills and experience + car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time

The role

As Production Manager, you’ll lead the Tarbert and Rhode & Tawnaghmore Peaking Plants production shift teams and production support functions, including performance, environment and chemistry, to ensure safe, compliant and efficient operations. You’ll oversee operational, legislative and licence compliance, ensuring the plant operates within Grid Code, environmental and legal requirements while supporting reliable generation and maximising commercial performance.

Some of your other main accountabilities will include;

  • Communicating production priorities, requirements and deliverables to the Station Manager supporting delivery against station objectives. You’ll also liaise with key external bodies, including EirGrid, the Health and Safety Authority, ESB Networks and energy regulators to support the wider objectives of the Production Team and SSE Thermal’s Tarbert and Peaking operations.
  • Ensuring competent team members are available to operate the plant safely, efficiently and sustainably, whilst making sure responsibilities are clearly understood and discharged, statutory obligations are met, and accurate operational and compliance records are maintained.
  • Lead performance and development reviews for production team members, including annual appraisals and six-month reviews. You’ll identify training needs, support development requests and manage competency-related training to ensure the team has the skills required to operate safely and effectively.
  • Develop, implement and regularly review production policies, procedures and Plant Operating Instructions, ensuring they remain effective, compliant and aligned with operational needs. You’ll also produce and deliver operational plans and manage the Production Team’s annual budget.

To be successful in this role, we would love you to have;

  • A degree-level qualification, NFQ Level 8 or equivalent, in a relevant engineering discipline, accompanied by experience operating in a similar role where you have acquired extensive knowledge in power station processes.
  • A continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to identify and deliver incremental improvements across key performance indicators.
  • Strong forward-planning skills, capable of anticipating future operational needs and putting effective plans in place.
  • Passion and openness to new ideas, with demonstrable ability and confidence to champion and implement improvements that support safe, efficient and sustainable operations.
  • A proactive approach to seeking out best practice and external opportunities, applying them to drive improvement across the Production function.
