The role
We are looking for a Procurement and Commercial Manager to support SSE Renewables Offshore Development team to help secure and deliver a pipeline of offshore wind projects. We are looking for candidates to have pre and post contract experience of high value contracts preferably within marine packages within Renewables or a similar industry.
As a Procurement and Commercial Manager for Offshore Development Projects, you be responsible for shaping the strategic procurement and commercial frameworks that underpin SSE's most ambitious initiatives. Collaborating across a range of senior stakeholders, you will be responsible for managing complex foundation, cable and vessel contracts, supplier relationships, and ensuring alignment with project delivery goals and corporate objectives.
You will
Strategic Procurement: Design and implement robust procurement strategies tailored to the unique demands of offshore development projects, ensuring alignment with SSE's goals and visions.
Supplier Management: Build and nurture strong relationships with new and existing suppliers to drive collaboration, accountability, and alignment with project objectives. Monitor supplier performance and address any issues proactively.
Team Leadership: Provide coaching, support, and development opportunities to ensure high performance across the team.
Contract Negotiation and Oversight: Lead contract negotiations to secure restricted capacity with optimal terms for SSE, while managing ongoing contractual obligations to ensure compliance, value delivery, and risk mitigation.
Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential procurement and commercial risks, ensuring all activities are in line with governance and regulatory requirements.
Cost Optimisation: Drive cost efficiency by identifying opportunities to improve value across procurement and commercial processes.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders to align procurement and commercial activities with broader project objectives and corporate strategies.
Data-Driven Decision Making: Use analytics and insights to inform procurement strategies, monitor progress, and evaluate success. Continuously seek opportunities for improvement based on data and trends.
Governance and Compliance: Champion procurement governance principles, ensuring all activities meet SSE’s high standards of integrity, transparency, and compliance.
Support Project Teams: Provide expert commercial guidance to project teams, offering insights and solutions to address procurement challenges and ensure project success.
Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous improvement by reviewing and refining procurement frameworks and operational processes to enhance efficiency and performance.
You have
- An understanding of offshore wind markets, supplier landscapes, asset management support contracts, regions, commodities, and services the businesses require and support the development of project business cases during the early stages of the projects that identify the optimum operational and commercial contracts models.
- Procurement ,Legal or Quantity Surveying Degree or equivalent direct entry to recognised appropriate professional body preferred.
- Experience in a similar role where you were responsible for procuring, and managing marine based contracts, managing offshore focused suppliers and sub-contractors, including supplier vetting, development, and management.
- Understanding of supply chain concepts and offer solutions to improve them.
- Demonstrable senior stakeholder engagement and managements skills are essential, as is the ability to influence, lead and resolve disputes and problem solve.
