The role

At SSE Renewables, we're delivering the clean energy infrastructure needed to power a net zero future. As our Offshore Operational Engineering & Execution Manager, you'll play a critical leadership role in ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient performance of one of the UK's most important offshore wind portfolios.

Reporting to the Head of Operations & Maintenance, you'll lead a multi-disciplinary engineering function responsible for engineering governance, asset integrity, maintenance strategy, technical assurance and the execution of major offshore maintenance and intervention programmes. You'll work across multiple technologies, suppliers and ownership structures, helping maximise asset performance while managing risk, cost and operational resilience.

This is a highly influential leadership role, combining strategic engineering oversight with hands-on delivery, stakeholder management and operational decision-making across SSE's offshore wind assets.

You will

  • Lead engineering governance, technical assurance and asset integrity management across SSE's offshore wind portfolio, ensuring risks are identified, assessed and managed effectively across electrical, mechanical, C&I/SCADA and offshore structures disciplines.
  • Develop and optimise maintenance and intervention strategies through asset integrity assessments, reliability-centred maintenance, root cause analysis, failure trend analysis, asset life extension and obsolescence management activities.
  • Oversee the delivery of specialist, fleet-wide and major intervention programmes, including cable repairs, major component exchanges, subsea inspection programmes and other critical engineering activities through a team of Engineering Managers and Technical Project Managers.
  • Act as Operational Technology System Owner for the offshore portfolio, ensuring the safe, secure and resilient operation of SCADA, control, communications and cyber-security systems while maintaining compliance with NIS, Cyber Assessment Framework and SSE OT standards.
  • Lead, develop and inspire a geographically dispersed engineering team, fostering a strong safety culture while supporting capability development, succession planning, operational excellence and continuous improvement.

You have

  • Significant engineering and project management leadership experience within offshore wind, power generation, utilities, energy infrastructure or another complex asset-intensive environment.
  • Strong knowledge of offshore wind operations and assets, maintenance delivery, asset integrity management, reliability improvement and maintenance optimisation across multiple technologies and suppliers.
  • Expertise in engineering governance, technical risk management, operational decision-making and the safe delivery.
  • Experience of delivering end to end project management of offshore works and major maintenance or capital intervention programmes.
  • Experience managing significant operational and capital budgets, leading supplier and contractor relationships, developing business cases and influencing senior stakeholders on investment and engineering strategy.
