The role
SSE IT are looking for a highly self-motivated individual to fill the role of Corporate Solutions BI Lead Technical Specialist. The successful applicant will be working as part of the Corporate Solutions Delivery and Support Group within the Corporate Directorate. This is a challenging role, and we are looking for an enthusiastic, committed, and versatile individual. Reporting to the Corporate Solutions BI Team Leader you will be supporting and developing the OBIEE suite of products within the Solution Delivery Corporate BI team. You will manage, support and enhance the ETL batch schedules and develop and maintain the ETL processes, repository, reports and user dashboards.
This team is responsible for the development and support of the Corporate Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE 12g) implementation. The primary data source is SSE's eBusiness Suite (v12.2.9) instance named Harmony. The platform surfaces operational reporting in the key areas of Payroll, HR, OTL, Finance (P2P, GL, SLA, FA, Projects) and Order Management/Logistics.
You will
- Lead on understanding ongoing and future business data and reporting needs, with an ability to grasp this from the business process, functional and technical side of systems.
- Support and deputise for the BI Team Lead across team governance and release management activities.
- Provide input into, support and lead the release and change management processes required to implement technical changes to our core applications.
- Perform a lead role in coaching, mentoring and KT processes – in particular around development approaches and standards.
- Provide leadership and guidance in support of other functional and technical specialists around design, development and delivery.
You have
- Strong understanding of IT change management processes – across raising, managing and releasing change effectively. Exposure to change repository tolling advantageous.
- Expert level ETL / SQL development experience, including tuning techniques. Specific exposure and experience of ODI (Oracle Data Integrator) and OBIA (Oracle Business Intelligence Application) is essential.
- Preferred detailed exposure to Oracle eBusiness Suite modules as listed for sources.
- Strong OBIEE 12C development exposure, with confident capabilities around analyses and dashboard – any exposure to other Oracle reporting technologies (XML/ BI Publisher, Fusion, OTBI, OAS/OAC) would be an advantage.
- As well as a creative, disciplined and analytical approach to problem solving you will be proactive with the ability to prioritise your own workload within demanding schedules. You should also be able to take ownership of problems and requests as well as the ability to work in a pressurised environment.
