The Role

This role will ensure the design of ECS IT Core Systems satisfy business requirements through ownership and leadership of Azure and MS Dynamics 365 platforms. Owning and documenting the solution to a level which allows for downstream lifecycle phases to proceed, and accountable for providing, controlling and governing design deliverables as required on projects and programmes, up to and including, those of a highly complex nature.

Provide technical leadership and accountability for ensuring the ongoing maintenance, availability and performance of our core applications.  Take the lead and guide others in the diagnosis and resolution of incidents and problems and in the development of technical solutions to satisfy business requirements.

To join a team of technical, functional and cloud infrastructure specialists working in Agile to design and support core systems within ECS.

You Will

  • Outline proposed solution and design estimates, including impact assessments; support workshops, requirements analysis, and solution delivery.
  • Lead, guide, and provide governance for design deliverables, ensuring quality assurance and adherence to core design principles.
  • Offer leadership and direction to functional and technical specialists, facilitating knowledge transfer, mentoring, and technical input as needed.
  • Plan, prioritise, and manage design tasks across multiple projects, maintaining accountability for monitoring and reporting system performance.
  • Help protect SSE from cyberattack and data loss by following standards, reporting risks, and applying cloud computing expertise, especially with Azure.

You Have

  • Extensive experience as an SQL DBA on enterprise systems and networking experience including TCP/IP, SFTP, routing, firewalls, cloud platforms, with preference for GoAnywhere MFT (Java-based file transfer solutions).
  • Experience in Azure Cloud, with strong understanding of containerisation, connectivity, security, and troubleshooting distributed systems.
  • Outstanding knowledge of Cloud VM and server technologies, including hybrid-cloud service management, and experience with disaster recovery and high availability setups.
  • Proficient in automating processes using PowerShell, CLI, Python, YML, JSON, Puppet, Jenkins pipeline, Terraform, and Azure Template.
  • Strong grasp of application, server, and network security and compliance, with experience in capacity monitoring, trend analysis, proof-of-concepts for infrastructure technologies, and leading enterprise IT or software projects.
