The role

Support the delivery of SSE’s Behind the Meter strategy by securing and managing land and property rights for projects. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, the role provides land and property expertise, negotiates agreements, and helps ensure projects are delivered on time, in line with business objectives and governance requirements.

You will

  • Provide support to the “Behind the Meter” team to deliver a range of land and property services including land origination and feasibility, land assembly, valuation, negotiation of option agreements, leases, wayleaves, easements and other land rights and acquisitions.
  • Contribute and assist in the delivery of the Behind the Meter strategy in supporting the businesses objectives and growth ambitions.
  • Develop and expand a network of contacts and build strong relationships with key external stakeholders including landowners, land agents, consultants and solicitors.
  • In accordance with SSE governance, manage and ensure the timely delivery of all land agreements and land rights required for projects throughout the origination, development, and construction stages.
  • Lead and provide support and advice to the Project Development Managers on all land and property matters, negotiations and internal approval processes particularly with regard to anticipated timescales and risks.

You have

  • Experience in land acquisition, development and property negotiations within renewables, infrastructure or development sectors
  • Strong knowledge of UK landownership, legal rights, valuation, and planning/consenting processes (Ireland knowledge beneficial).
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience in budget management, risk identification and mitigation.
  • Degree-qualified in a relevant discipline (e.g. Real Estate, Land & Planning, Law) with RICS membership desirable.
