Salary: £64,085 - £76,425 + car/cash allowance + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options available

The role

Our work is all about securing the land rights required to develop the proposed 400kV overhead lines, underground cables, and substations that will keep the country powered with clean, sustainable energy.  It’s a crucial role - one that blends the expertise of a land agent with the complexities of large-scale utilities projects.  If you’ve worked in land management, you’ll know that no two days are the same, and that’s certainly true here at SSEN Transmission.

You will

  • Prepare necessary wayleaves and compulsory purchase orders.
  • Liaise with landowners and occupiers over proposed route and site selection.
  • Assess the impact of infrastructure on land and businesses.
  • Negotiate wayleaves or servitudes and ensuring best practice in land management.
  • There’s also a strong element of valuation and compensation assessment, making sure agreements are fair and balanced for all parties involved.

You have

To thrive in this role, organisation and proactivity are key.  Our work is project based, and with so many internal and external stakeholders, you need to be a great communicator and problem solver.  We’re looking for:

  • A good understanding of landownership systems in Scotland, land management practices and the use of compulsory powers, ideally gained within energy networks or other relevant utility,.
  • Practical knowledge of land management matters and good experience in dealing with land and property rights, including experience in wayleaves, servitudes, land acquisition and the principles of compensation.
  • Ability to project manage the production of necessary wayleaves and compulsory purchase orders, as well as drafting and implementing land assembly strategy to ensure the business underpins negotiations for voluntary land rights with the use of statutory powers.
  • People who are well organised, forward thinking, and confident managing multiple priorities.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and find practical solutions.
