Base Location: For this role, we require successful applicants to be based from one of our Scottish locations: Glasgow, Aberdeen or Inverness.

Salary: c£65,000 + car/cash allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

The Role

As part of SSEN Transmission's Pathway to 2030 programme of works, we are seeking an HVDC Project Engineer to join our HVDC Engineering team.

Working within SSEN Transmission's Offshore Directorate, you'll play a key role in supporting the delivery of major HVDC infrastructure projects that are central to the UK's transition to a low-carbon energy system. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to nationally significant projects while collaborating with a diverse range of technical specialists, project teams and industry partners.

We welcome applications from engineers with project engineering experience gained within HVDC, power transmission, electrical plant, energy infrastructure or other complex engineering environments.

You will

- Coordinate design assurance activities and support the delivery of project governance and stage-gate documentation.

- Review contractor deliverables for main plant equipment and auxiliary systems, ensuring compliance with technical and quality requirements as part of the equipment approval process.

- Collaborate with technical authorities and engineering specialists to facilitate effective review and approval of engineering deliverables.

- Attend factory acceptance testing (FAT) and support commissioning activities to ensure equipment performs as intended.

- Promote a positive safety culture and support the management of engineering, quality and project risks throughout the project lifecycle.

You have

- A degree, HND or equivalent experience in a relevant engineering discipline, ideally electrical or mechanical engineering.

- Experience in project engineering, ideally within HVDC, power transmission, energy infrastructure or other complex engineering environments.

- Knowledge of electrical plant, substations, HVDC systems or related technologies, or transferable experience from a similar sector.

- Strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the confidence to address challenges and support effective decision-making.

- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
