Base Location: Inverness, Highland, Scotland
Salary: £28,072 - £48,2962 (depending on experience and authorisations) plus a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role
Operations are responsible for keeping the lights on; we are at the front line on the Network. If we find a fault, it is our responsibility to respond to the fault and dispatch our skilled teams to fix it as quickly as possible. We work in all hours, and through all weathers, ensuring our customers are never without power.
We are looking for candidates with a Mechanical or Electrical bias to join us and work as part of a team maintaining, inspecting, and repairing the electricity network that supply our customers.
You will
- In this role you will be responsible for maintaining electrical equipment on the electricity network up to and including 33,000 Volts, ensuring work is completed within specific time frames and the network is restored to normal as soon as possible. This will also include emergency response to fault scenarios.
- You will be part of a field-based team that is involved in the delivery of maintenance activities in line with Key Performance Indicators, this includes the maintenance of all plant and equipment such as operational switchgear, transformers, busbars, relay panels (both electrical and mechanical) ensuring it is maintained and operating within designated limits.
- You will assist with switching out the network up to 33,000 volts and carrying out restoration switching within your authorisation level, including planning on how, when and where all works will take place.
- You will be an ambassador for Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks when interacting with external and internal customers, large businesses, regional councils, highway agencies and National Grid, to deliver world class customer service and protect the SSE brand.
- It can be a very demanding role and involve working outdoors in all weather conditions. Training and development will be on offer.

You have
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
- Some experience as Mechanical or Electrical Fitting. Knowledge of the Electrical Distribution Network would be an advantage, but not necessary as training can be provided. (Applicants that already have Electrical Senior Authorised Person status for 11,000 Volts will be considered for the role at the higher end of the salary range).
- A high regard for safety with strong customer service skills.
- Excellent communication skills are essential to this role as we deal with customer related issues face to face daily, and good service allows us to achieve our broader measure requirements and targets.
- A clean driving licence and flexible approach to working hours and work location is a must.
