Data Visualisation Engineer

Base Location: Glasgow, Reading

Salary: £35,200 - £52,800 + car /car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role

You will build innovative proof of concepts that solve complex problems for SSE’s customers within Energy Customer Solutions. You will work alongside data scientists within a small agile team building SSE’s market propositions using data and AI. We utilise a variety of data sources ranging from IOT sensor data, geospatial, weather, assets (renewables, storage, buildings, EVs, heat pumps, CHPs) and energy data. Your focus will be leading the creation of innovative and compelling data visualisations and developing robust supporting data pipelines, all to drive the creation of new Customer Digital AI Propositions for SSE’s shopfront. 

You will

• Work in a cross disciplinary team to develop advanced analytics products
• Liaise with internal stakeholders to gather key requirements for new products
• Create data pipelines to support the development of new trial products
• Develop data visualisations for proof of concepts and trial products
• Ensure key processes (e.g. Data Governance) are followed

You have

• Strong working experience in developing data solutions to solve problems
• deep technical expertise in python, sql and Databricks, including developing complex data transformation pipelines
• experience developing data visualisations using BI tools (PowerBI) and open-source app development frameworks (e.g. dash, streamlit)
• knowledge of (and passion for) the UK energy industry
• a strong focus on user/customer needs and commercial awareness
