Salary: £51,600 - £77,400 + car /car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Contract Manager to join our Procurement and Commercial (P&C) team working to deliver onshore connections and capital network reinforcement cable projects as part of our Distribution business in the SHEPD operational area.
You will be providing end to end P&C support for the delivery of numerous £multi-million, major projects relating to underground cable, overhead line and substations across the SHEPD operational area.
This role would someone from a Quantity Surveying background with experience working either Client or Contractor side, no specific experience working in Energy sector is required but would be advantageous.
You'll be an enthusiastic, delivery focused individual with strong commercial acumen and technical understanding of construction principals, including well-developed interpersonal, problem-solving, communication, negotiation skills gained from working as a contracts/commercial manager or quantity surveyor in the construction industry.
You will
- Comply with all safety policies and procedures, promoting safety and safe working practices both internally and externally to improve safety performance.
- Provide end to end procurement and contract management services. Inclusive of management of commercial, business and legal project risks and negotiating terms and conditions to ensure ongoing value for money throughout the lifetime of all contracts.
- Develop and implement the procurement and commercial strategy to optimise value for money in conjunction with project delivery aligned with our business objectives and goals.
- Provide timely budgeting and cost reporting, as well as supporting the delivery of departmental KPIs and objectives such as savings in total cost of ownership, value engineering and safety performance.- Build and support the development of relationships with main suppliers/contractors and liaising with points of contact on project(s) / contract(s).
You have
- A good working knowledge of UK construction contracts. Experience of working with the NEC ECC forms of contract or similar is essential and the ability to research, gather and present information both verbally and written on contracts.
- Experience of negotiation and management of contracts.
- Experience in bottom-up costing, cost and budget management, pre and post contract administration, contract negotiation, claims and commercial programme and risk management.
- Good understanding in the preparation and drafting of construction contracts.
- A degree in Quantity Surveying is preferred however, candidates with other relevant construction related degrees with appropriate experience will be considered.
