The role

We are seeking a Connections Designer to join our Commercial team in Scotland at an exciting time for the business. As we adapt to evolving licence obligations, increasing competition and support the transition to a low-carbon future, this role will play an important part in delivering connections for our customers.

The SSEN Distribution Commercial and Connections teams are the first point of contact for customers looking to secure a new electricity connection, increase the capacity of an existing supply, connect generation or relocate electrical equipment serving their property.

You will

  • Provide customers with designs and quotations for both import and export connections to our network.
  • Design connections up to 5MVA that will connect to the LV/11kV/33kV network.
  • Model and analyse the LV network to accommodate points of connection for demand and generation.
  • Ensure all our designs are compliant with all appropriate rules and regulations in place, as well as meeting all engineering specifications and financial targets.
  • Provide exceptional customer service.

You have

  • A strong commitment to safety, with the ability to ensure our safety values are at the forefront of all work activities and decision-making.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with a proven ability to build and maintain positive working relationships.
  • A strong working knowledge of low and high voltage distribution and power systems networks, with the ability to produce safe and effective designs.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office applications and the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new IT systems and technologies.
  • Relevant electrical qualifications, such as an HNC, and ideally previous experience within a power systems environment.

You must hold a valid UK driving licence.
