Base Location: Aberdeen

The role

You will be

- Developing, managing, and administering a portfolio of community funds across the north east of Scotland. Working with communities and community organisations to support them in ensuring that the funding delivers legacy for the area.

- Building and maintaining strong relationships with communities, built on trust.
- Taking a flexible approach to funding and support communities to think strategically about how the funding can be used.
- Assessing applications to the fund on a fair and equal basis and present these assessments to local decision-making panels.
- Acting as an ambassador for SSE, you will seek to build strong relationships with local and regional stakeholders from community representatives to politicians, ensuring that a positive impact to both the community and company is maximised.
- Working closely with and advising business units on community development and community funding matters such as policy and best practice.

You have a

- Strong planning skills. You'll be expected to manage several community funds simultaneously, carefully balancing workload with deadlines in the most efficient and effective manner.
- Background in community development or the Third Sector and an understanding of the challenges facing communities. Experience of managing community funds and networks in north east Scotland would be an advantage.

- Excellent communication skills and confidence in presenting to both small and large groups of people along with experience of dealing with a range of external stakeholders.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other systems to enable you to produce first-class reports and case studies.
- Degree of flexibility is also required as your role will include working out-with core hours, particularly evenings, and significant travel in Scotland.
