The role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Solicitor with a pragmatic and commercial legal focus to join our SSE Energy Markets team. SSE Energy Markets operates in demanding and ever-changing markets, and this role offers the chance to work closely with the business, navigating new markets and opportunities and working on high-value commercial contracts in a complex regulatory environment.
You will
Provide proactive and pragmatic legal advice on high-value commercial contracts in a complex regulatory environment.
Identify, understand, and manage legal risks to support business objectives.
Build strong working relationships with clients, stakeholders, external legal counsel, and the wider Legal Team.
Work closely with teams across project delivery, asset management, operations, procurement, and regulation.
Draft and negotiate commercial contracts to ensure compliance and optimal outcomes.
You have
Qualification as a solicitor in Scotland and/or England as well as a keen interest in the energy industry and in engaging with SSE Group’s vision and strategy. This role is likely to suit a Solicitor with around 2-5 years PQE.
Broad experience of commercial matters, preferably in the utilities and/or energy sector, including drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
A reasonable understanding of the legal, commercial, and regulatory issues pertinent to SSE Energy Markets, the SSE Group, and the wider energy markets.
An ability to build strong working relations with clients, stakeholders, external legal counsel and the wider Legal Team.
A proactive and pragmatic approach to giving legal advice and support in a clear and concise manner and within timescales.
