The role
SSEN Transmission are seeking an Auxiliary Technician to join us in the goal of achieving Net Zero. Our Auxiliary Technicians provide the front-line technical expertise and day to day work coordination in Substation Auxiliary systems.
You will
- Inspect, operate and maintain the Transmission Substation Auxiliary services such as Standby Generator sets, Batteries and LVAC assets.
- Work closely with Substation Maintenance teams and stakeholder to coordinate and deliver all aspects of inspection, repairs and maintenance activities within the specific discipline.
- Take responsibility for hands-on management of a wide range of high value, Network critical electrical assets.
- Interpret and evaluate various forms of inspection data from both internal and external sources, taking ownership and management for remediation, rectification and or replacement of key components to ensure the ongoing safe and efficient operation of the Transmission network.
- Ensure accurate recording of completed work done also identification and escalation of developing and emergent trends in asset defects and failures.
You have
- Previous experience as a Electrical Technician, Standby Generator Technician or similar. Substation experience would also be advantageous.
- Demonstratable experience within an Electrical or Electronics industry.
- Experience in coaching and mentoring less experienced colleagues with electrical and mechanical aspects.
- Ability to supervise non-routine and complex tasks unassisted.
- A qualification at SVQ / NVQ level in STEM discipline or working towards this.
