The role

SSEN Transmission are looking for a motivated and proactive Asset Policy and Strategy Engineer to join our Asset Policy and Strategy team.

You will contribute to the performance and continual improvement of our Asset Management System, support compliance with Electricity Safety, Quality and Continuity Regulations (ESQCR), and collaborate with colleagues across engineering, operations, assurance, and risk.

This role is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their asset management career - or ready to step into a new specialism - who wants to develop strong capabilities in ISO 55001, compliance, risk, and asset management strategy.

You will:

  • Analyse and audit SSEN Transmission's Asset Management System, to the ISO 55001 standard, providing the appropriate KPIs and reporting to demonstrate continuous improvement in our asset management performance.
  • Carry out or support internal audits, contributing to assurance activities that check the effectiveness of governance, risk management, and control processes.
  • Support the continuous improvement of SSEN Transmission's Asset Management capabilities, using feedback gained from external benchmarking activities.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with ESQC Regulations, working collaboratively with stakeholders across engineering, safety, and operational teams.
  • Work with the Risk and Assurance team to help maintain the Asset Risk Register, ensuring information is accurate, up to date, and shared with relevant teams.

You have:

  • Experience in supporting the development and performance management of ISO55001 certification within an asset management organisation.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to produce clear technical or business documentation and explain ideas to different audiences.
  • Experience in delivery of internal/external audits and the ability to demonstrate how you have used the audit process to deliver performance improvements to an organisation's asset management system.
  • A technical or analytical background - such as a degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Project Management, Asset Management, or a related discipline. An Institute of Asset Management qualification is advantageous.
  • A full and valid UK driving licence, as travel to SSEN Transmission sites and offices is an essential part of this role.
