The role

As our teams continue to grow and deliver vital infrastructure projects across the network, we're looking for motivated individuals seeking a new career opportunity as a Trainee Craftsperson.

Whether you're looking for a career change, returning to learning or seeking an opportunity to develop new skills, this is an exciting opportunity to join a business that offers industry-leading training and clear development pathways.

You'll gain the skills, knowledge and authorisations needed to build a rewarding career in the electricity distribution industry, working as part of the team that helps keep communities connected and powers the transition to a net zero future.

You will

  • Gain the skills and experience needed to carry out construction, new connection and repair work across overhead and underground electricity networks from LV up to and including 11/33kV.
  • Work alongside experienced colleagues to learn safe working practices and contribute to a strong safety culture.
  • Develop practical knowledge and competency while working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Participate in training and development programmes, including attendance at our Training Facility in Perth.
  • Support network operations during storm situations and out-of-hours activities as your training progresses.
  • Work towards achieving LV and HV switching authorisations, with future opportunities to progress towards SAP authorisation.
  • Build the technical and practical skills required to develop a long-term career within the electricity distribution industry.

You have

  • An interest in building a career within the electricity distribution or wider utility industry.
  • Practical or hands-on experience gained through work, education, hobbies, military service, construction, engineering, mechanical, electrical or similar environments, although this is not essential.
  • A strong commitment to safety and a willingness to learn and follow safe working practices at all times.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Enthusiasm, a positive attitude and a flexible approach to learning new skills and adapting to changing priorities.
  • The ability to undertake a physically demanding role, including working outdoors and at heights.
  • A willingness to participate in a standby rota as your training and competency develop.
