Wind Turbine Maintenance Technician

Base Location: Meentycat Wind Farm, Donegal.

Salary: €35,500 - €53,300 depending on skills and experience + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working Pattern: 18 Month Fixed Term | Full Time

The role

As a Wind Turbine Maintenance Technician, you'll play a key role working with a team of Technicians who take pride in the operation and maintenance of the SSE Renewables fleet.

Utilising information from our maintenance management system, you'll perform scheduled maintenance and fault rectification on our fleet of turbines, ensuring they are operating at their optimum capacity. Along with other members of the team, you'll deliver wind turbine maintenance for SSE Renewable Operations driven by four key performance measures, SHE, Capability, Quality and Cost. 

These opportunities are open to entry level Technicians looking to start a career in Renewables through to Enhanced Wind Turbine Technicians looking to drive the change to Net Zero.

You will

• Carry out planned maintenance and fault-finding to keep our site running safely and efficiently.
• Help maximise turbine performance, ensuring the wind farm operates at its best throughout the year.
• Work with experienced technicians to deliver high-quality maintenance using safe, structured work practices.
• Assist in improving site performance, helping us generate more renewable energy for homes and businesses.
• Play an active role in scheduled standby cover, supporting the safe and reliable operation of the wind farm (rotational allowance applies).

You have

• A Level 3 qualification (NC/SVQ or equivalent) in a mechanical or electrical discipline, ideally supported by a recognised apprenticeship.
• Experience in mechanical or electrical maintenance, ideally on wind turbines or heavy plant machinery.
• An understanding of safe working practices, including permit systems and working-at-height procedures.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a close-knit team.
• A willingness to live within approximately 45 minutes of Meentycat Wind Farm, or relocate to meet this requirement.

To ensure the site is operating efficiently throughout the year, you may be expected to participate in a scheduled standby rota. If you do participate, its expected you would be required one week in five. Additional payments relating to this will be available.
