Legal Summer Placement – Transmission

Duration: 12 weeks commencing June 2026

Base Location: Perth or Glasgow

Salary: Circa £24,580 per annum (pro-rata) 

Working Pattern: Fixed Term Contract | Full Time

Degree Disciplines: This opportunity is open to:

• Students in their 3rd or 4th year of the Scots Law LLB undergraduate law degree;
• Students in their 1st or 2nd year of the accelerated Scots Law LLB
• Candidates who have completed the Scots Law LLB degree and are undertaking or have completed the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice

What is the role?

SSEN Transmission’s Legal Team plays a crucial role in delivering key projects and supporting various business areas including commercial and construction, property and planning and providing regulatory support. We work closely with our colleagues to support the successful delivery of our Network for Net Zero, and the growth required to our network to support a net zero future, reinforcing the SSE Group’s fully funded Net Zero Accelerated Programme.

We’re seeking a trainee with a passion for the energy industry to join us. The SSEN Transmission legal traineeship will give you exposure to diverse areas of law in an exciting fast paced business.

The traineeship will involve experience within the varied team specialisms including property, commercial and construction and dispute resolution. We also offer opportunities to broaden your training further by spending time in another legal team within the SSE Group and also with one of our external legal panel firms.

You'll experience document drafting, negotiation, client meetings, providing advice and support to colleagues across SSEN Transmission helping them to understand, minimise and mitigate legal risks.
