Base Location: Atwick / Aldbrough

Salary: £50,100 - £75,100 depending on skills and experience + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time

The role

As Control and Instrument Engineer, you’ll be responsible for the maintenance, optimisation and ongoing development of Instrumentation and Control (I&C) systems across our Gas Storage Sites. This role is critical in ensuring the safe, efficient and reliable operation of assets, enabling the effective processing of shipper nominations for both gas withdrawal and injection.

Some of your main accountabilities will include;

  • Defining requirements and establishing inspection and maintenance contracts, including preparing documentation and supporting tender evaluations to secure best-value outcomes for the business.
  • Maintaining accurate records to meet legislative requirements relating to plant maintenance schedules, inspections and compliance activities.
  • Monitoring inspection schedules to ensure activities are completed on time and that recommendations from testing and examining authorities are effectively actioned.
  • Supporting preparation of the site instrument revenue budget and manage your own area budget, controlling costs in line with agreed requirements. 
  • Ensuring new plant complies with current standards and develop maintenance schedules and programmes that support safe, reliable and efficient operation.

To be successful in this role, we would love you to have;

  • A degree-level qualification in Instrument Engineering, or equivalent experience, with up-to-date knowledge of working in hazardous areas and suitable qualifications in the design and maintenance of instrument systems.
  • Experience working with similar high-consequence assets, ideally within Upper Tier COMAH environments.
  • Experience in the design and maintenance of ATEX-rated equipment, supported by relevant training or qualifications.
  • Strong DCS programming experience, with an understanding of cyber security requirements for plant-based DCS, SCADA and similar systems.
  • An analytical mindset, with the ability to use your experience to develop innovative solutions and systems that support the legal operating framework of the Gas Storage business.
