The Role

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Test Manager to join our team. The Test Manager will own and manage the full testing process and capability by setting standards, defining strategies, and delivering testing across portfolio and workstreams. This role involves working as part of cross-functional delivery teams to enable frequent product releases by implementing rapid and reliable test processes.

The Test Manager will be accountable for all testing activities for their workstreams, including test planning, test analysis, test execution, and test closure. In addition, the Test Manager will be responsible for the HR management and professional development of a team, including overseeing performance appraisals, supporting career progression, managing leave and attendance, and ensuring a positive team environment.

You Will

  • Develop and implement overarching test policies and strategies, setting and maintaining testing standards while leading the delivery of high-quality testing across multiple concurrent workstreams.
  • Plan, manage, and coordinate strategic, large, and complex testing activities, including defining test data and environment requirements, producing detailed estimates, and overseeing defect lifecycle processes.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with delivery teams, software suppliers, and business teams, collaborating with Delivery Leads to define delivery plans and reporting on test activities across workstreams.
  • Continuously monitor and control testing activities, identify and analyse test risks, and lead initiatives to drive innovative improvements, actively promoting AI enabled Test automation within an Agile environment.
  • Oversee direct reports by mentoring, developing staff, setting standards, managing performance and attendance, supporting career growth, fostering a positive team environment, and ensuring compliance with SSE policies, cyber security, and risk protocols.

You Have

  • Demonstrated expertise in leading large-scale testing workstreams, developing test policies and strategies, and applying risk-based testing techniques within complex business areas.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant SSE business areas, testing best practices, development lifecycles, and the ability to optimise and adapt testing processes for improved outcomes.
  • Skilled in using multiple test management tools, providing clear and consistent information, negotiating delivery timelines and metrics, and managing key stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Proven capability to lead, motivate, and manage testing teams, accurately report to management, and maintain a high level of planning aptitude in changing, iterative, and adaptive environments.
  • ISQTB and relevant undergraduate degree.

If you are a highly motivated individual with a passion for testing and a desire to work in a dynamic and innovative environment, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
